1020cover This recording evolved from a 10-year relationship between the two tenor saxophonist in the world renowned Duke Ellington Orchestra. Bobby and Shelley have been crowd pleasers since they first met. Their friendly on-stage exchanges have often been showstoppers. It was this magic that led to them recording together. Backed by the stellar rhythm section of Carlton Holmes, Andy McCleod, and Ron Vincent, these to unique tenors swing through this set with soul and passion. It is obvious that both are proud products of rich musical heritage. Carroll grew up in Houston in the shadows of Texas greats like Arnett Cobb, Marchel Ivery and Don Wilkerson. Bobby is a product of the fertile blues and jazz scene in Memphis. Together they from a bond not easily broken. After hearing these sessions, Jimmy Heath wrote, “…a great recording featuring two outstanding tenors showing love and respect for each other.” I am sure you will enjoy this musical journey.
